The Four Bases of Good Health

I often speak to people who suffer from sleeping problems, difficulty with their weight, high stress levels, and a whole catalogue of other symptoms which affect their day to day happiness. If anyone is under any doubt, I would always suggest to them to go to their GP and get checked. However, it should be noted that in many cases, the most effective approach is to try to find the root cause of the problem. Remember that sleeplessness, irritability and depression are all symptoms , the outward, noticeable signs that something is wrong in our bodies.

What do we need most in order to survive?

Air, Food, Water and Sleep

These ‘Four Bases' are central to our health. Without any one of them, we would die. By lacking one of them, we become ill. This is not to say that a lack in these four things is the only cause of illness, Huntingdon's Disease for example is genetically pre-determined and no amount of good food and adequate rest will change this. However, the majority of the thousands of possible imbalances in our bodies come directly from these four bases.

By smoking, not exercising, and incorrect breathing we reduce our daily intake of oxygen by an enormous amount.

By shovelling junk food down us on a daily basis, starving ourselves with grossly inappropriate ‘fad diets', missing meals and refusing to eat sensible amounts of food we cause untold damage to the cells in our bodies.

By not following the guidelines of drinking 1-2 litres of water every day we are constantly in a state of chronic dehydration, harming almost every single process that takes place in the human body.

By sleeping less than the suggested 6-8 hours of sleep a night, we refuse our mind and body the time it needs to sufficiently replenish, restore and renew itself for the following day.

Before you fill yourself with drugs that mask the problem, before you treat one symptom, only to make the way clear for another to appear, before you spend time and money on weight loss pills, extreme diets or any other of the ‘quick fix' gimmicks invented by the ignorant and the greedy, please bear in mind that the solution is probably right in front of you and requires nothing but your own will power and honesty.
